Life went on
as normal, apart from this business of having drops put
in my eye. This wasn't so bad because James gave me a
treat every time I had the drops. This was great because
I don't normally get treats - I'm supposed to be loosing
a bit of weight you see! May
9th came and James' Mum (I call her Mummy) didn't give me
any breakfast. I don't remember being naughty? Still, no
food! She did give me a drink though. Then I got ever so
excited 'cause it looked as if we were going OUT!! It was
ever so early and Mummy got James and me into the car
and, fancy that, Uncle Eric came too. I like Uncle Eric
because he takes me for nice long walks. I thought
"this is going to be a good trip out". Funny
thing happened then, we took James over to his Nanny's
house and I heard Mummy arranging for Nanny to take James
to school and fetch him home afterwards. Then, off we
went again in the car, (me, Mummy and Uncle Eric). Going
along I thought "I remember going this way
before" and after a long drive - you guessed it - we
arrived back in Emsworth! Then I began to remember about
the very important man I had seen before and this thing
called an operation that he talked about. Suddenly the
trip out didn't look so good. But, hey, Mummy and Uncle
Eric found a really nice playing field and I had a good
time running around and making myself quite tired. Thanks
Mummy, this is fun I barked. But all too soon it was into
the car again and my heart began to race and I started to
pant a lot because suddenly Mummy had found the Park Vale
Clinic again (she's a bit too clever) and before I knew
where I was, I was inside and Mummy was talking to the
ladies and writing on lots of bits of paper. Then Mummy
said a really big goodbye to me and gave me such a big
hug. She told me to be a good girl - and then she was
gone. |
