ALLAN & DOROTHY'S VISIT TO GUÉDELON
Fifth Page
26th September 2015
Guédelon, France
Deep in the forests of northern Burgundy, in a once disused quarry a team of master-builders are building a C13th castle from scratch. Quarrymen, stonemasons, woodcutters, carpenter-joiners, blacksmiths, tile makers, carters and rope makers are working together to revive heritage craft skills and shed light on the world of medieval construction.
Trees make logs, logs make purlins, floor joists and roof trusses to support floors and a roof.
With this axe I will show how easy it is to make a log square
All these photos remain the property of Allan and Dorothy Martin
