Monday 8th February 2016
We didn't do a great deal today, just had a rest at Dorothy's Mum's house and spent the day with her. Not too many more days to be able to do this for a while.
Back to Hailsham to visit James, Frankie and the baby Scarlett-Louise and there we met Paul (Frankie's Dad) for the first time.
During the evening it was arranged that, as James is working tonight, we should have dinner with Frankie's mother Sarah and her partner Glenn, Frankie and her sister Beckey and brother Nathan at the Toby Carvery in Eastbourne. A very nice meal and well worth a good report on Trip Advisor!!!
We returned to North HaIlsham for the night and used the generator. The place where we stay overnight whilst we are in this area is near to the town of Hailsham, East Sussex but is not actually called North Hailsham. As we don't want to lose our spot there to other motorhomers, we try to maintain a little of its secrecy and do not to let on where it actually is. However more and more people are guessing the actual true location. Damon W won this week's award for guessing where North Hailsham actually is!
Allan spent the morning trying to sort out an increasing problem with our laptop and decided that it should go in for a service check tomorrow. So, we make our way back to Seaford for the afternoon and evening where we used the generator again to top up the batteries.
After Allan walked into Seaford to take the laptop computer in for a virus check and clean, we needed to be in Eastbourne for some advice on financial matters. As they say you can't take it with you!
This was followed by the rearranged dinner with Yvonne and Kevin at "The Green Man" in Ringmer. We parked in the car-park at the rear of the pub and checked that we could stay overnight (most pub restaurants allow you to stay overnight in their car park).
We had a lovely evening with them
and the food was as good as ever! Funny that Allan's food is never photographed!!!
After a very nice meal and good old chat with Kevin and Yvonne, we had a very good nights sleep in Ringmer, East Sussex. We look forward to meeting up again in the future.
We obviously can't stay in a pub car park all day and so we made our way to Seaford for breakfast, after which we picked up the computer from the technician at Oscar's Computers, Seaford.
On the way back from Oscar's Computers,
Dorothy found a shop with some net curtains, just the right size for our side
windows and quite inexpensive too. So with the new curtains to fit, a clean
computer and a free afternoon we were both quite busy!
A good job done!
We even had a phone chat to Pete and June who thought that we were leaving for France today and what time can they wave us off.
We went over to Sharon and Jon's
house in Brighton this evening for their Saturday night takeaway. It was really
just as well we did visit as we had left one of our chairs there on the birthday
Marc also popped in as he saw the motorhome on his way home. A nice surprise for us.
The evening ended with a really smashing surprise because Jon had found some old videos that Sharon's Father had taken from Boxing Day 1991 when we all were so much younger and we saw many dearly missed family and friends no longer with us. Wonder what they would have made of a takeaway (a Chinese and an Indian Chicken Balti) and a motorhome parked outside ready to sail to France in ten days time???
And then it was time to say our farewells and travel to Saltdean for the night. (Sharon & Jon - WE WILL BE BACK!! for more good times)
Day in Saltdean is what is in the diary and that just about sums it up. We have many people to see over the next few days and at the moment we are doing too much travelling around.
Dreams of French sunshine, no generator and lower cost of living..........................
